International Tent Pegging Federation Website Design and Development Case Study

Project Overview

The International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) is an international sports organisation established in Muscat, Oman, on 27 October 2013. The federation works to promote and develop tent pegging worldwide, bringing together national federations and supporting the growth of this traditional equestrian sport through international cooperation, competitions, training, and organised sporting activities.

The objective of this project was to create a professional website that represents the federation's international presence and provides a central online destination for its members, officials, athletes, and the wider equestrian community.

I designed and developed the ITPF website to bring together the federation's organisational information, member federations, official directories, regulations, news, events, and other essential resources in one structured digital platform. The website supports communication in both Arabic and English, helping the federation share information with a diverse international audience.

Project Goals and Challenges

An international sports federation serves a wide range of audiences, including national associations, athletes, judges, coaches, veterinarians, event organisers, and sports enthusiasts. Each audience needs access to different types of information, making content organisation and navigation important parts of the website experience.

The ITPF website needed to present the federation's identity and objectives while accommodating a substantial range of organisational and sporting information. This included official directories, member federation details, working committees, rules and regulations, registration forms, competitions, and international news.

The main project objectives were to:

  • Establish a professional digital presence for an international sports organisation.

  • Organise federation information and official resources into clear sections.

  • Make information about member federations and sporting officials easier to access.

  • Present international competitions, events, news, and announcements.

  • Support Arabic and English content for a multilingual audience.

  • Provide accessible contact options and newsletter subscriptions.

Our Approach to Website Design and Development

Our approach focused on creating a structured, information-rich website that reflects the federation's international role while making its content straightforward to explore.

Rather than treating the website as a simple informational page, we approached it as a central digital resource for the federation's activities and stakeholders. The navigation brings together the organisation's background, board of directors, working committees, member federations, official directories, regulations, forms, news, and events.

we also incorporated bilingual content into the website structure, allowing visitors to access information in Arabic or English. This is particularly important for an organisation that connects national federations and sporting communities across different countries.

The overall objective was to balance the presentation of the federation's identity with practical access to the information required by its international audience.

Key Features of the ITPF Website

1. Professional Website Design

The website provides a central online presence for the International Tent Pegging Federation, introducing its mission, vision, activities, and international sporting role. The structure helps visitors understand the organisation and navigate its main sections, whether they are looking for general information or specific federation resources.

2. Bilingual Arabic and English Website

The website supports Arabic and English content, allowing the federation to communicate with audiences from different linguistic backgrounds. Providing information in both languages is an important feature for an international organisation whose members and stakeholders are based in different countries.

3. Board of Directors and Working Committees

Dedicated sections present information about the federation's leadership and working committees. These pages help visitors understand the organisation's structure and find information about the people and committees involved in its administration and sporting activities.

4. Member Federation Directory

The website includes a directory of member federations, presenting information such as federation names, countries, joining dates, and available website links. This creates a central reference point for visitors looking for national associations and information about the federation's international membership.

5. Official Directories for Sporting Professionals

Dedicated sections are available for judges, coaches, veterinarians, and competitors. These directories organise information around key groups involved in the sport, making the website useful not only for general visitors but also for people working within the international tent pegging community.

6. News and International Sports Updates

The website includes news articles and announcements covering federation activities, international competitions, qualification events, and other developments related to tent pegging. This content helps the federation communicate updates and maintain a central source of information about its activities.

7. Events and Competition Information

The events section provides a dedicated space for reporting on sporting activities and important events. For an international federation, this type of content helps audiences follow competitions, learn about major developments, and stay informed about the sport's progress across different countries.

8. Rules, Regulations, and Official Documents

The website provides access to rules, regulations, and official resources. Bringing these materials together online helps members and other relevant stakeholders locate important documents without relying exclusively on separate communication channels.

9. Forms and Newsletter Subscription

The website includes forms and a newsletter subscription feature, providing additional ways for visitors to interact with the federation and receive updates. These features support ongoing communication and help visitors stay connected with organisational news and activities.

10. Contact and Social Media Integration

Contact information and social media links provide additional channels through which visitors can connect with the federation. Integrating these communication options into the website helps bring its official information and online presence together in one place.

The Importance of User Experience for International Sports Websites

An international sports website must serve visitors with different goals, levels of familiarity, and information needs. A national federation may be looking for regulations or membership information, while a coach or judge may need to locate an official directory, and a sports enthusiast may want to read the latest competition news.

A well-organised user experience helps accommodate these different needs by grouping related content into clear sections and providing consistent navigation throughout the website.

For the ITPF project, the emphasis on structured information, dedicated resource pages, and bilingual content helps make the website a practical communication tool as well as a representation of the federation's identity.

Supporting an International Sporting Community

Tent pegging is an equestrian sport that combines horsemanship, accuracy, technique, and speed. The International Tent Pegging Federation works to promote the sport internationally while connecting national federations and supporting its continued development.

The website contributes to this mission by providing a central digital destination for organisational information, sporting resources, news, and events. Its international and bilingual focus helps the federation communicate with a broad audience and make information about the sport more accessible.

the Outcome

The completed website brings the federation's main information and digital resources together in one organised platform. Visitors can explore its mission, leadership, member federations, official directories, regulations, news, events, and contact information through a central online destination.
